In Memoriam

Amira has been pushing me to write something down here in the blog, other than sometimes I'm simply too lazy to write or the internet connection was too SLOW plus with the problem that I had with my lappy's keyboard make me even more lazier to post something here. Unlike her lively blog, with sometimes simple but witty post, I don't have such capacity to write that way. Most of the time I spend my time editing Wikipedia, that's my way of writing down something.

I've been friend with Mohd Zul Helmi Bin Mohd Yusof for more than 5 years, I met him when we were placed in the same class of 4 Science 1. He's not much a talker. Quite taciturn. He has a clear discipline record, and once was elected as both Head of the class and as a prefect. Beneath his passive personality, he has this thing for driving with much speed. I only discovered it during our first class gathering when I had to take a ride with someone to go to my friend's house. I thought since he's very passive, the way he ride/drive will be the same. How much have I wronged myself. But I never expect that this will be the cause of his death. He has so much prospect in him. The day he passed away was actually 3 days after he finished his study and received the rank of lieutenant at the Kolej Tentera Udara in Kedah. And tomorrow (at the time of writing) is supposed to be the day when he is coming back for holiday. Here's the link for the news of his death: Tragedi pegawai muda TUDM

His death shocked me and the rest of my friends as it was so surprising because he was supposed to be back in few days time, and the news received only few days before Ramadhan wouldn't be easy for us since every year during Eid (Aidilfitri) we will make a small gathering where we will visit from house to house especially those from the same classes of 4 Sc 1 & 5 Sc 1. Writing this down is not easy for me, but at least I got a medium to express it. Yesterday, when the Imam read "Wahai Mohd. Zulhelmi Bin Mahani, kamu telah meninggalkan segala nikmat dunia yang sementara dan akan menemui Allah yang Maha Esa buat selama-lamanya" hit me so hard that I almost cried in the public. This morning, I dreamt of him briefly, I think I and him was in a hall where he was sitting below me, he did not say anything, but when we were going out, the setting is like it was somewhere in a Mosque.

I don't expect thousands of people to be reading this, but at least he will be remembered forever, and ALWAYS.

Cool Free Softwares

Salam. It's been quite a while I haven't updated my blog. Thanks to akak Rasheeqa. (Akak ke ? heh3!!) I update my blog upon her request and wink2. Ha3!! So, here's the topic, I love my laptop to the max, I bought it somewhere in August 2008. So it all began with one of my closest friends, Jafni kept borrowing my laptop, and install quite a number of software, that slowly but steadily helped me to know better about these stuffs. Many of the programs listed here are free and it has been quite useful to my XP Windows. So here hoes.

1. iTunes

- My favourite Music Player, the sliding album gallery is simply awesome. Now, with iTunes 10, many of the albums from iTunes store which have a new feature, where users can listen to songs in that particular album which sometimes also come with videos and pictures.

2. Media Player Classic

- Simple. It can play almost any files, but for videos with extensions of .flv, .rv, or .rmvb better play it with Real Player. So far. it can play almost any video files I've encountered, .avi, .wmv, .mp4, .mkv, .mov, and many others.

3. Avast Free Antivirus
- One of the many dozens of antivirus I have used, this one probably one of the best. Word of caution: if you are used to your antivirus, don't change it. Because it will bite you back you-know-where.

4. Mozilla Firefox
- Need I to say more? ^_^ Fast and reliable. With proper updates and add-ons, it works like a charm. : )

5.Picasa
- I used this photo viewer instead of the Windows version, it has a very cool effect when showing a picture, it has this slides underneath that you can scroll across to view different pictures.

6. Photoscape
- I'm active in this forum, where I often changed my avatar (profile picture) when I feel it, most of the time, I used animated pictures (.gif) for it, and I created it with this program. Download a video from youtube, cut it with RealPlayer trimmer and convert it Movie To Animated Gif program. You can later resize it with photoscape. Not only that, it has features where you can create collage of pictures, merge, edit, add effects and many more.

7. Unlocker
- Have you ever encountered files or folders you can't delete, move or rename? Used this free software to do these tasks. Upon installation, untick some of the options where it will installed together Bing! and Ebay toolbar/taskbar to your browser. I had to use this one where I can't delete a new folder created in my external hard drives. I suspect my friend's computer has override the authority of my external hard drives. Later, I reformatted the whole thing when I can't use the folder even after renaming it.

Any enquiries, feel free to ask, though I'm not that good, I'll try to help as much as I can. ^_^v

Pengembaraan Sammy: Laluan Rahsia

Salam. Yesterday, or more accurately speaking, a day before that, I went to the movie all by myself, not because I don't have friends or what, sometimes I'm kinda need "Me" time. Me, I, and myself. So, to cut things short, I went to KLCC by Twelve sumthin', had 2 donuts from Dunkin' Donuts (Chocolate mint & Orange Chocolate) and Iced Coffee ^^, went straight to TGV on the 3rd floor, and bought ticket for Sammy's Adventure: The Secret Passage 3D for 4.00 pm. By then I have 2 hours to pusing2 while tawafing the complex.

So, now , the movie. It was a-muh-zing........ The details are out of this world!! I mean, the sand texture, the ocean, I'm dumbfounded. And the characters are so cute and funny. Oh, I forgot to mention, there were less than 15 peoples in the theater though. Mostly parents with kids ^^. With a box of popcorn in my hands, I watched the movie like a little kid, amazed by the works, touched by the storyline. The whole story was told and crafted by a 50 year old turtle, Sammy who traveled the world and experienced lots of adventures and dangers - mostly by human. It kinda one of those Green and animal awareness films. The storyline is very simple, nothing to complex or hard-to-understand. One thing for sure, the movie really give an impact to me on what we have done to the environment, some of my friends, admittedly throw rubbish simply through their windows. Come on, people, it is not that hard to walk 20-30 steps to a bin to dump those....

After that, I went again touring the KLCC, and concluded with a nice dinner plate and cheezy wedges at the KFC. XD

Kusut, musut & mukusut......

English, English and yes, English.

Salam. First and foremost, I would like to scream at the top of my lungs that, "I'm Home!!!!". Well, that's rather therapeutic. Nge3... XD Today's topic is, ENGLISH. Most of us, English served as a second language if not native. Like me, I'm only interested with English when I was in my secondary school after which most of my English teachers at that time were very supportive and mind you, NONE of my English teachers were Malay to add. I find English at times a very weird language, many of the words are pronounced not by the way how it was spelt. Here is two out of a few peculiarities I've found rather interesting.

1. Certain loan words are pronounced very different to the way we think they are. Try to pronounce these words.
- Coup de Grace *found this when I was helping my friend with his work*
- Coup d'etat *stumbled in one of the National Treasure magazines*
- Facade *found in a forum*
- Fjord *found in one of the National Geographic magazines*
- Abattoir *picked from a Batman novel*
*Tips - Try to be a French with certain words. XD

*Give up? Hu3!! Here's how.
- Coo-The-Gra
- Coo-They-Ta
- Fa-Said
- Fe-yord
- A-ba-twa

2. F**k is one of the few words in English that can serve as a noun, verb, adjective, adverb and also as a suffix!
- Noun - He is such a f**ker.
- Verb - *Most of you are very well-versed with this term.* Ha3!!
- Adjective - They are such f**king Zionists.
- Adverb - He is f**king great friend.
- Suffix, specifically as an Infix - Absof**kingly!

*Wow, out of all the words in those lexicons, this one particularly very much useful in terms of versatility. Ha3!!
*Trivia - The word "Effing" is the smaller brother of f**k. Get it? "F"-ing?

3.English too has quite a few words when translated in Malay can be rather long, or in a simple word - no exact translations.
- Defenestration - Killing people by throwing out them through the window. Weird huh?
- Ambidextrous - Able to use both left and right hands
- *Technical & Scientific terms.*
* Most of the technical and scientific terms are adapted into Bahasa Malaysia with Malay style of spelling.
* Many Malay words too have no exact translation into English.
- E.g: 1. Rezeki *How do you translate these statements: "Dah bukan rezeki dia." or "Jangan halang rezeki dia."
4. And loads more especially words used in traditions.

p/s: If you have more, do notify me! :)

Why?!!!!

Salam. Today's post for me is rather on a serious note. First, I f****ingly hate my brother-in-law. Yup, you saw it right. He is such an effing scum. Seriously, he IS. I've been holding my grudge against him for quite a time, now I have every and each reason to throw a punch at his stupid face. It all began when he happened to be my brother-in-law-to-be back in 2005 when he was first engaged to my sister.

First reason: he was rude to his parents. Very rude. He was talking to his parents as if he were talking to his friends. I know, I'm not really a good and obedient son, but I still watched my manners with my parents. As I posted before, I rarely show my real feelings, so I'll try to fake my expressions even when I'm extremely mad at them. It is better for me to get hurt than them. My sister on the other hand is kinda girl that always says good things about her husband. I know it is good, but sometimes it is kinda obvious.

Next reason: cold. I have no idea what is his problem with me. Every time when I got back to my sister's home a.k.a his house too, he never asked how I'm doing, or how is life. Like I'm gonna ask him first if his expression is always what we say, "muka ketat".

Third reason: evading from his responsibility. In 2008, back when my sister was sick, he went out and never got back home till the next day. At that time, he was still unemployed. He quitted his work as a delivery guy for a furniture store after he was tested positive for gallstone. So, when he was sick, it was of course my sister was the one who was taking care of him. So, my sister has to juggle her time as a wife and as a worker, so she has to go back home early and nurse that hag. So, when my sister was sick, where was he? Gosh, I just wish that killing an annoying in-law is legal. So, my sister told his parents, and only by then he "take good care" of her.

Fourth reason: rude to MY PARENTS. It happened when I was going to Gombak. So, my whole family was staying at his house for a night before they off sending me to Gombak. Back then, there were my dad, mum, 1st brother and his family, 1st sister and her daughter, and my 2nd sister with that pig. So he was responsible to drive my parents in "his" Wira, from what I've heard, my parents told me that it was obvious his expression wasn't happy with him driving to IIUM and he was angry when he got lost in the university compound. Come on-lah , my parents are maybe old, but they're not blind and senile. It was obvious. My sister said: "Dia penat kerja kot...". WTF? Come on, even if you are not sincere, try to hide that expression, it's not that hard. I've been doing all the time with you.

Fifth: problem with ME. Yes, I am staying at his house occasionally, yes, I sleep late at night. I think he has complained to my parents about his electric bill. Who is this scum try to cheat? I ain't a toddler, I can read and know how bill works. So one day, I got in to their room when I changed my shirt after getting a bath. What do you know, their compilation of bills. I've checked and rechecked, none of the bills surpassed RM 50. I repeat, NONE. The way my mother told me as if the bill was RM 500. He never told me if he has problem with me, but he's using my sister as a medium to express his dissatisfaction with me sleeping late. My sister told me, "Dik, tidur awal ye? Kalau kakwa duduk sorang, kakwa tak kisah, ni kakwa dah kahwin." Kahwin to who? Of course to that scumbag! What's the problem of him with me sleeping late? Every time I go to their house, I'll rarely come empty handed. And I often help my sister with house chores. I help to clean, cook, picking up clothes from the clothes hangers, and wash the dishes. And every time before I go to sleep, I wash all the dishes. He can consider himself lucky that I'm not loud, wild or those kind of spoiled son, yang duk rumah goyang kaki. I just don't get what's him problem with me sleeping late, I come to their house, if not once every fortnight, once a month.

Sixth reason: the DEAL BREAKER. My mom is the worst person to hide her emotional feelings. I can detect her uneasiness even through the phone. So, last Tuesday night, my mom called.

Mak: Yang, bila balik?
Me: Esok atau lusa, tapi balik rumah Kakwa dulu.
Then her intonation drastically changed,
Mak: Tak payahlah balik rumah Kakwa, terus balik Teluk Intan.
Me: Kenapa ?
Mak:Tak ada apa2, balik dulu, nanti mak cerita.
Me:Sebab ayang ke ?
Mak: Tak, tak ader kena mengena pun.
The same things go on and on, until she cracked.
Mak: Bukan salah ayang, kakwa tak kisah pun, tapi lagi "sekor" tu.
She's caught red handed.
Me: Agak dah.

The conversation goes on and on with my mother repetitive "Terus balik Teluk Intan" and "Bukan salah Ayang." Later, my 1st sister text me, she said, my mom refused to tell me the truth, and she was worried if I think I was guilty. Later, she revealed that my 2nd sister found a hypodermic needle in the bathroom. There are two things with hypodermic needle. Its either you are diabetic or a drug addict. She said, when my sister asked her husband, he quickly run amok. It i kinda obvious because it was his fault, so he was trying to hide it. My sister saw a fresh scar on the fold of one of his arms. My sister immediately called my 1st sister, and according to my dad, if this is true, he ask my sister to request for a fasakh. My sister also has been confessing that the past two months her marriage is rocky and she's unhappy with it. But I still have no idea whether it has been proven, but if he is, then the end result is inevitable. If I found out she's hurting my sister physically, he's dead.

101 On How To Make Purrfect... *Physically* XD

I bet almost everyone on this world has something to complain about their physical appearances. Apparently, I am no exception. Most of my wishes are achievable without major surgeries, I guess. Now let me see, what I need to improvise first...

1. Hair.
- My hair is hair lice equivalent of (Amazon rain forests + KL = wild, hard and uneven terrain). My hair is not those kinda type that when is long, it will follow the gravity. I just envy those Arabian, Pakistani students, somelah, some of them really have this nice, flowy hair. Genetic i guess. Born into a Malay+Indonesian+Indian+Portugese descent, don't really give much help though. It will bunch up like clown hair, bushy and have no shape whatsoever. I always wanted hair like Jesse McCartney, or Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia or at least like Jonathan Bennet. I think the later one is the most likely achievable than the other two.

Most achievable

My mom will kill me if I have this hairdo.

My favourite, though most likely I'm already dead way before I have this style.

2. Height

- What? Some of you might be wondering. Both of my parents are rather short stature, much like my siblings, but my parents said maybe I inherited my maternal grandfather gene of height. Hmm... It skips a generation I guess. I'm the tallest among my family members, and one of the tallest among my cousins. XD Ha3!! Well, now I'm roughly 177cm-178cm (5'9.5'' - 5'10'') when I last checked back in 2008. I just want to be another 3 to 4 cm higher. Please? XD

Please.
.....

3. Teeth
- Nothing much really, I just need some whitening I think..

4. Strong/prominent jaw line
- Born and breed with semi round face + oval, it is almost impossible to achieve this feat. I don't have specific examples, but to make it easy, I prefer to have jaw lines like Jonathan Bennett to make it simple. XD Ngee...

5.Eyes
- I think I need a lasik surgery to alter my short-sighted sight. That's it.

6.Skin
- I just wish I have a healthy skin, something I lacking now.

7. Body
- Woah, the hardest wei.... My ideal look, like Ryan Reynolds or at least Hrithik Roshan? *Nak yg best ajer....hu3!!* Ngee... Not impossible, but by the time I achieved this, I'm bedridden already...

I wish... *green with envy...*

Woah..... T_T

Don't need any changes.

1.Skin complexion
- I love my skin colour, not too dark or too white. Just nice~~...

2.Eyes/Eyebrows/Eyelashes.
- Other than lasik, nothing much really... XD

3.Nose
- No complaint whatsoever.

Watch this vid, enjoy !! XD

Voice Of Asia & Truly Asia's Songbird (Siti Nurhaliza) - Kurniaan Dalam ...

Siti Nurhaliza. One of the most influential names in Malaysian entertainment industry. Yet her English skills often being the center of attention for those who hate her. Born and raised in a small town, her English skills admittedly bad. But people often overlook her vocal performances. She has won more awards than all AF students have received combined!!! I'm kinda person who love any artists who can sing live as good or better than their recordings. Kalau dlm recording jer best, bek xyah.... She has been quoted as saying that she would like to produce an English album. My advices - practice and improve her English. I love her, and I don't want to see her being laughed by those who detest her. In retrospective, she has improved - a lot. But not that eloquent. These haters brought up trivial issues - headgear, her marriage, her business, her dress and lots more. Boy, that's the price you have to pay for being famous, aite? By the way, this is one of my favourite performances of her!! Check it out!! Zass~~~~! XD

Minute details of me...

Life has a unique way of teaching us through experiences - from my perspective. There are times and things that I'm proud of, and not not so proud of. No people in this world know what I've done, other than God - I'm not and will not spill the beans. :)

I have two big problems, sarcasm is my mother tongue. I think, quite a number of people have been offended by my sarcastic tone. I know, I know, I'm sorry!! XD Next, I jenis cepat terasa, and susah nak tunjuk. Ask Mira, you'll know. Sometimes, even I can easily got offended by harsh tone or slightly higher than usual conversation tone. I have no idea why I'm so sensitive. Tapi I susah nak tunjuk, I takut org tu terasa. However, kalau I tengah marah, obvious clues - I will not talk, even if I do, not much. But, no worries, I'm not blame-all kinda person, I'm much more specific. If I hate someone, don't expect me even to talk with him/her or even look. In retrospect, I think, the last time I went amok is when one of my friends *wait, I mean archenemy* who stupidly making stupid joke about me. Wrong time, and obviously, wrong person to poke with. 5 years ago, I think.

Now, I think it is even harder for me to let it all out, cause I'm to cool. Ha3!! Nah, I'm just too considerate, people have relentless used me, and I hate it, but still I'm helplessly let others utilize me.

Simon Curtis

Hi. Before this, I've introduced you guys with BBT, now meet Simon Curtis, a not-so-discovered singer. He has been quite awhile in the industry. Call me homo or what, but I have fallen in love to him, wait! Scratch that! I mean his albums. XD His debut EP, Alter Boy was his first record, but failed to chart anywhere. His sophomore is a bit better, but still failed to make people talk about him. I first knew about his existence when I browse YouTube. I listened to one of his singles, Beat Drop and since forth, I love his music. His like the toned-down male version of Katy Perry. Usually I'm the kinda guy that loves Power Ballads, but since the lack of such material in airplay, I started to adopt a new genre, anything that is fun, dance or in a simple word - easy-listening. Everything about him is simplicity, even his video is SIMPLE. Don't trust me? Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGraA8JgmF0

Please be warned, that female voice of him in certain part of the song in the video is known as Falsetto. Some of you may find it kinda homo-ish, but it is very common in the industry. Few big names who do it - Justin Timberlake & Daniel Bedingfield.

The picture by the way is his EP cover. Simple guy. Great song.

Saya sangat sunyi sekarang....

Alliteration my dear people, is the repetition of a consonant sound. In this case, the "s" sound is used by him to show his d*mn loneliness.

Sweet n Simple.

Br. Saiful n [Abdul] hadi, the class is overloaded n closed. No room at all for new students. See u next semester. Thanx.

Sweet, short and [oh] shoot. Means that I will not be seating for any IRK class this short semester at all. All my life now depends on a single thread of BM. Please, Ya Allah, let me have this one!!!!

One Sem Ends, Another One Starts...

I've been waiting for quite awhile before posting any new post. One of the main reasons is because due to Internet connection. Sometimes it is too slow for me to upload picture to accompany my post. For the moment, I'm not so sure about my status here. I still have not submit the forms.

Sem 2, 2009/2010. What a h*ll. So many things, so little time. Total assignments excluding presentations: 7 written assignments (3 came from my least favourite subject, writing, "thanks" Shams!!).

WRITING
To be frank, I've only absent from his class once. Late, numerously impossible to calculate. Ha3!! I have no idea, in which category to place him, sometimes I do feel kinda sorry for him. But, the empathy proven to be the easiest to ebb away once you are in his class. Initially, he gave us one written assignment, roughly 15-20++ pages. A week or several weeks later, he told us, we have to do 4 instead of 3. We were like WHAT?!!!!! It takes forever to finish even one bloody paper. Especially when the draft that I gave him consists of one SINGLE paper, took him one MONTH to go through it. The picture is my introduction for my third assignment. Oh, I did the assignments with Aisyah. We did the 1st one together, she did the 2nd one, I did the last one. If you look closely, 1/5 of the paper consist of footnotes. Yup, I intentionally used lots of references to fill the blank. Ha3!! Hey, if he wasn't committed with his work, means the same rule apply to me!! XD Just to let you know, we got 39 marks for our carrier marks. Which frankly, is unfair. The 1st one is the best of all the papers, but we got 13 marks for each paper - he did not really go through it, I think. I got a B for his paper. Almost all the guys and girls who took his paper got roughly the same thing - with addition + or - . Pfft....

BM & Sciences Of Hadith
These two subjects are the ones that I'll be taking for this short semester. I'm applying BM by Mdm. Roslimna and Sciences Of Hadith by Dr. Osmani. I just downloaded the application for Sciences Of Hadith, but not BM cause the wi-fi provided by IIUM somehow restricted my connection to enter IIUM's official website. Irony isn't it? I thought it would be easier... Rest of my friends are taking SOCA (The Study of Sociology & Anthropology), good luck!! If things are not on my side, maybe I'll try to apply other subjects, if not, all of the subjects will have to be crammed inside my 2nd long semester. No!!!!!

Big Bang Boom!!

Salam. To cheer your day, I woke up at 3. Yup, you read it right, 3 . What I did last night? Staying up late at HS cafe till 6. Hey, aku solat subuh k? Ha3!! That's not my main point, today's topic is about Big Bang Theory, not the group nor how the universe was created, but an American tv series, a funny one, though Nabil hates one of the characters. It's a story of 4 geeks living with a hottie *not "ho" Ha3!!*, and the story revolves on how they stay together, though Sheldon, one of the main characters often spoils the clique's mood. There are 5 main characters; Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, Raj Koothrappali, Howard Wolowitz and Penny (I'm not sure about her maiden name). So far, it has aired for three seasons, and only few more episodes left before the third season ends. I find this show very addictive as it uses witty banters and not those cliche jokes. Each episode has its own personality and rarely interrelated. For me, that's what made this series is unique. I strongly suggest you to watch this show though it has been promoted here yet.... Hey, you can have the series from me if you want it. For the picture, on the left is Raj, Leonard, Penny, Sheldon and Howard. This is one of the series other than Charmed that I love the most. XD

p/s: Thanks for Jafni and Along for introducing me to this great series.

There's Been A Death In The Opposite House....

Salam. First and foremost, I would like to utter my deepest condolence to my neighbour's family for the death of their family backbone, or more commonly called amongst the villagers as Pakcik Man. His death has struck me more than what I can ever think of. He is slightly older than my father. He died in his sleep. Who knew his siesta would be his final and last sleep. I still can remember how frantic I was when my father almost had the same case few months ago and how my mother screamed from their room when she found out that my father's breathing is at very long intervals. And few years back, my mother had a sudden heart attack, the doctor told us that if we were to send her half an hour late, she'll no longer alive. Death has always give me the creeps no matter who, when, how or where. Last week, when my parents were attending a ceremony to accept a financial help from the Yayasan Perak, one of the attendees faint and died there. She was there to accept the money on behalf of her daughter/son. I can't imagine how her child will deal with this when studying. Her age again, is around my parents age. I have every and each valid reason to be scared. I'm very attached to my parents emotionally. Hey, I can cry for few days even over my cat. Death has teaches me a lot. How to be stronger, how to deal with the world, how to wish on the right thing, how to gain more experiences, and etc.

Life in IIUM?

Salam. Jeez, life in IIUM is not like what has been portrayed in Nur Kasih. I often told my mom, "Mak, Fiksyen jer tu......". Its like "jauh panggang dari api berbatu....." Ha3!! But, one thing that they has emulated pretty much the same - continuous and incessant problems... Once, I even have been stuck here like what, a month? Yes, it's an accomplishment that I'm not so proud of... But, friends here are great! Somelah... Some of them are good listeners, some are good advisers, and some are just pain in the "you-know-where".... XD One thing for sure that I've learnt is moderation. Too much or to little will affect you no matter what. Have heard about karma? Yeah, that's the thing. Everyone here has their own problems its just the degree of hardship. Some of us whine over little stuffs, that are trivial compared to the rest. So, next time - whine wisely!

First thing first.....

My first post here, and I'm totally clueless what to write down. Things can't get any worse after my most favourite cat died, Ibon, he died earlier this month, but I only knew about it last night, February 27th when I called my mother. I'm stuck here, at my university for almost a month after the mid-semester break. He died three days after I got myself here. Yeah, I cracked and I cried all by myself, with so many things to be done here, his death only make things to become more and more unbearable. He is one of the main reasons why I can't wait to go back home every holiday. I've got no one to tell this, so I'm spilling all the beans here....

p/s: To Ibon, you'll always have your place in my heart.... T_T
